Rockstar just released a brand-new heist in GTA Online, and it's a big deal — not just because it's fun, but because of the timing.
What actually happened
On July 14, 2026, Rockstar launched The Kortz Center Heist, a new multi-stage art robbery set at the fictional Kortz Center in Pacific Bluffs. Players plan and pull off the heist in stages, similar to older heists like the Cayo Perico Heist.
Here's the part that makes this news: this is the first completely new heist added to GTA Online in almost six years. Since the Cayo Perico Heist launched back in December 2020, Rockstar mostly added smaller stuff — new cars, business tweaks, salvage yards — but no brand-new, full heist. Until now.
Why is Rockstar doing this now?
Because GTA VI is releasing on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. That's just a few months away.
A lot of fans are reading this update as Rockstar's way of saying "one last ride" before the sequel takes over the spotlight.
What else came with the update
Along with the new heist, the update included:
- A free current-gen upgrade for people still playing old-gen copies of GTA 5
- Increased GTA$ rewards on older heists and setup missions
- The ability to nominate up to 16 player-created jobs for others to vote on and play
- The usual weekly bonuses: vehicle discounts, GTA$ and RP boosts on select game modes
Night Tier verdict
If you've been playing GTA Online for years, this is worth logging in for — a real heist, not just a vehicle drop. If you're new or mostly waiting for GTA VI, this is a good excuse to jump in one last time before the servers' spotlight moves to the sequel. It's built on an 11-year-old game, so don't expect it to feel next-gen — but as a send-off, it delivers.
